Health authorities in the South 24 Parganas district have directed 95 individuals, recently returned from Kerala, to undergo examination in Rudranagar, according to sources. Additionally, a contingent of 50 pilgrims traveling to Gangasagar from Kerala and Rajasthan was halted and rerouted to Kolkata following conducted tests, as reported by officials.
A state Health Department bulletin disclosed that, on Wednesday, 15 out of the 5,605 individuals who arrived in the city are under observation. To date, a total of 17,849 people arriving in India from regions affected by the coronavirus have been identified and placed under surveillance, with 267 completing the surveillance period, 25 currently admitted to isolation facilities, and the remaining 17,557 under home surveillance.
The bulletin detailed the submission of 77 samples to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune, ICMR-NICED in Kolkata, and IPGMER in Kolkata for COVID-19 testing. Of these, 76 yielded negative results, while one sample tested positive. The document assured that the health status of all individuals under surveillance remains stable.
Furthermore, eight individuals discharged from the hospital are now in home isolation, as per the bulletin.
